Igentis (The Mines or Tropicana City Mall)

For RM14, we indeed were served: 1 Main Course + Mushroom Soup + Garlic Toast + Ice Lemon Tea + 2 Scoops Ice Cream.

Several menu options were available for the main course – mostly consisting of variations of chicken chop and fish and chips.

Main Meal: Fish and chips – deep fried fish with thick, crunchy batter.  There was hardly any meat to this dish although portion wise, one could have a tummy fill of deep fried breadcrumbs.

Main meal: Mexican Chicken Chop – a house specialty.  This meal was drenched in very sweet and mildly sour sauce. The capsicum, cucumber and pineapple added to the zing in this meal.

IMAG0797 Mushroom soup and garlic toast– The serving was the size of a small soup bowl.  It resembled a diluted version of Campbell’s mushroom soup.  The toast was lightly buttered with a sprinkling of garlic – very mild indeed but makes a pleasant enough dip into the watery soup.

Ice lemon tea – nothing but the regular fare here…very similar to Lipton’s ice lemon tea.

2 scoops of ice-cream (no topping) – we were given yam and choc chip.  Just the run of the mill ice-cream.

Aside from the items served as part of those stated in the voucher, we also ordered the following:

Kids omelet fried rice – yang zhou fried rice served nasi pattaya style with coleslaw and fries on the side.  A treat for the young ones for sure.

Service at the restaurant was extremely slow.  Considering we were the only ones in the restaurant at noon, it took a near half hour for the main course to arrive.  Thankfully, drinks were served first.  The soup and garlic toast were served after the main course!

The restaurant did fill up after the 12.30pm when the weekday crowd came in for lunch.  We noticed that the fastest served meals were the daily specials or the bowls of noodles.

Igentis deserves a thumbs up for a family dining outlet and good variety of items on offer. However, they’d need to pick up speed for service on its western menu items or at least state minimum delivery time to avoid hungry, grumpy customers.
