Kailan with oyster sauce and garlic – a simple and tasty dish

    IMAG0509

The main meal – meehoon with deep fried fish.  There was so much meehoon that it soaked up all the soup before we were done.  No worries – the staff promptly refill the soup FOC!!

    IMAG0511

Fish paste foo chuk roll – This was very crunchy but there was hardly any fish paste.  This dish is served with Thai sweet chili sauce.

Herbal tea – lo han gao

Overall, the food in this restaurant has always been good and is reasonably priced.  It is a full house come dinner time.  Great place for a good meal for the whole family.

    Donashi by Big Apple

Derived from the word donut and sushi, these super sweet treats (minus the hole in the middle) are as cute as they come.  This sugar boost is definitely best shared by the dozen :)

    Go Green, Mid Valley

RM6.50 gets 2 people a meal each at Go Green Vegetarian in Mid Valley Megamall’s Oasis Foodcourt.  This outlet was quietly tucked in an obscure part of the foodcourt.  I walked by it twice before spotting it.  However, the food turned out to be absolutely delicious.  Check out the pics of the food below and give it a go if you are in the vicinity.

IMAG0500Charsiew and Wanton noodle (dry version) – portion was small but the charsiew and wanton were delightful! You wouldn’t even miss the real thing (ie. meat)!

    IMAG0503

Singapore fried mee hoon – this unassuming noodle was tasty right down to the last bit.  A must try although it is very much tummy filler as well.

    Pasto, Cheras

The food at this restaurant is not very far off from a decent home-cooked meal.  There is always just the right amount and mixture of herbs in all its dishes.

    IMAG0483

Mushroom soup – a blend of fresh button mushroom and cream

    IMAG0485

Garlic bread – nothing out of the ordinary here.  Just as simple as one would have made at home.

    IMAG0489

Fish & Chips – the fish was very fresh and thickly coated with breadcrumbs.  It rested well on the bed of tartar sauce.  The salad on the side was a little less imaginative with thousand island dressing drizzled across.

    IMAG0490

Chicken chop with brown sauce – I didn’t quite enjoy this one though.  The meat was bland and the sauce did not complement the meal.

    IMAG0492

Vegetarian Spaghetti – the asparagus and sauce combination in this meal was perfect.

    IMAG0494

Pepperoni pizza – thin crust pizza with lots of mozzarella and sauce.  This tasty meal was marred only by the overly thick side crusts.

    IMAG0498

Spaghetti Bolognese – Again another favourite among the young and young-at-heart.

Overall, the dining experience at Pasto was pleasant.  Staff were helpful and most importantly, the food was fresh and tasty.  Be prepared to fork out at least RM20 per person.  Even lunch sets consisting of a soup, main meal and a watered down ice lemon tea hover around RM16.90+. T

Remember to pack some mosquito repellent to this poorly lit outlet.  Even at mid-day, mosquitoes feast there too!
