RM1.50 kaya toast @ Uncle John, Mines

For RM1.50, we got a DOUBLE kaya  butter toast plus a RM3 voucher for your next visit at Uncle John Kopitiam in the Mines Shopping Centre.

was a slight exaggeration – there was certainly a lot less butter and kaya.  Nonetheless, for RM1.50, one cannot complain.

We did indeed get a double kaya toast and was even able to utilise our RM3 voucher since we spent over RM20 for dinner. Restaurant manager was helpful and familiar with the deal.

This is a great place for coffee and toast.  However, if you are planning a complete meal at this outlet, do allocate more time.  Kitchen staff take over 30 minutes to prepare meals even during off-peak hours!

Wah!  Another superb deal by Everyday: 2 wantan mee, drinks, side dishes and ice-cream for 2 pax at RM11.  What a steal!  We got several of these vouchers and it is real value for money.  No different pics to post as food is similar to those posted earlier and just as yummy!

First review: 50% off Pontian wantan mee by JackCow

Couldn’t resist this offer since kids love wanton mee, so I got 2 sets of this for RM10 each.   Each voucher entitled us to 2 wanton noodle sets, 2 drinks and a mix platter. 

There were 7 varieties of wanton mee to choose from – it ranged from the basic wanton soup and dry wanton noodle to tomato and chili wanton noodles or a combo of dark soy sauce and tomato/chili.

The noodles were very tasty and unlike the regular wanton noodles we’ve had, it had just the right amount of sauce and springiness to the noodle.  The wantons were filled amply with meat.  However, the portions served were rather small if we were to purchase it at the regular price of RM5.50 per plate.  Luckily, our voucher entitled us to the mix platter which consisted of fried wantons, fried fishcake and otak-otak – a mix that was appetizing and tasty.  This sealed the deal for the meal.

The drink of the day was ‘leong sui’ longan in hot or cold varients. 

Thumbs up for the service which was efficient – we got our food in less than 5 minutes of placing our order.

This is a great place for meals but usually on the pricey side.  So, with this RM12 voucher for a meal,  I simply couldn’t resist!  The restaurant, tucked in the quite neighbourhood of flats, was abuzz on a lazy Sunday evening.

At 53% off normal priced items, we were given mushroom soup and garlic bread for starters.

For mains we had a choice of 3 dishes.  Having bought 3 vouchers, we sampled the following:

 

Fish & Chips

Beef stragonoff (absolutely delicious  although a little too salty.  The beef was tender and served with buttered rice)

Mushroom chicken (okay I was expecting more from this dish especially since it turned out to be chicken cutlet with mushroom soup splashed over it! After a few bites, the chicken becomes a little too dry on its own)

 

The cozy ambiance is still there after all these years.  MM (MasterMind) by the owners, is very much about retaining its nutritious, home-cooked style.  It tries very hard to this but relies heavily on its full staff of foreign workers.  On a rating of 1 to 10 for food and service, I’d give it a 6.

Kushi Q, TCM: RM11.90 for 2 Bento sets

This deal included 2 Bento sets (fish or chicken)  with rice, salad, miso soup, fruit and bottomless green tea at Kushi Q, Tropicana City Mall.

I was seriously looking forward to tasting the bento which came with 2 slices of watermelon, tofu soup (it wasn’t miso), coleslaw and a piece of coral leaf salad and green tea. The fish and chicken dishes looked so similar as they were not meat fillets but rather the flour and chicken/fish flavoured versions.  Thoroughly disappointing and definitely not worth the meal cost if it were at its regular RM11.90 per set.  Portion size is small (kids-sized!)

Service was very much the fast food style.  Drop by if you are in for a quick tummy filler but not if you are looking forward to tasting Japanese bento.
